Quickly Pickled Onions {Basal Mekhalel}

A lot of us love eating raw onions but do we dare to admit it? And say we admit it, how much of it do we dare eating? This recipe is a great addition to any meal when you’re craving that onion taste but don’t want the lingering after taste.

I love this recipe because it’s so fast to make. In just 15 minutes, your pickles are ready to eat!

Serving Ideas: Serve with any meal when you’re craving that extra tang!  A few dishes that come to mind: Okra, Molokheya, Smoked Fish Salad and Fool/Ful.

Servings: 6-8 servings

Ingredients:
1 small red onions, finely sliced
Boiling water
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp white vinegar
A dash of chili pepper flakes

Directions:
~ Put the onions in your serving bowl. choose a small bowl that keeps the onions tight together.
~ Add enough boiling water to cover the onions.
~ Add all remaining ingredients and mix well.
~ The pickled onions is ready as soon as the water cools down.
